SKIING IN NORWAY


What an amazing experience we had on the 17th December 2019 going on a skiing trip with all the international students and some teachers of Hald Internasjonal senter. It was our first time skiing and we were very excited but also scared. When we arrived at Bortelid located in the Vest-Adger country, Norway we all had to put on our skiing gear and began skiing.



The funny part was that we lost count on the number of times we fell but never gave up despite being our first time skiing. It was a nice experience being taught how to skii by our teachers and learning some few tricks.



After skiing we all sat together around a fire and had some hot dogs while talking and sharing our skiing adventures of the day. Afterwards our journey back to Hald began. Thankfully, no one was severely hurt making it the best day for us.



It was a memorable day that we will never forget.

Norsk is a North Germanic Language spoken mainly in Norway. The 3 facts that we have experienced about the Norwegian Language are, It is a Scandinavian Language, It has several dialects, and it makes Norwegians unique. It is a very nice language but difficult to learn mostly because Norwegians speak very fast hence making it quite difficult to comprehend sometimes. We have Norwegian classes every Wednesdays where we get to learn new words in Norsk. Caroline, our Norwegian teacher is a very nice and lovely teacher. So far, our speaking skills in Norwegian language have improved as we not only speak in class but also in our internship places. Learning Norwegian language has been an amazing experience for us.

OUR WORKING EXPERIENCE IN NORWAY

                 OUR WORKING EXPERIENCE IN NORWAY. Living in Norway has been great so far and has given us an opportunity to work as volunteers in a second hand shop. We have been working in an NLM Gjenbruk second hand shop in Mandal, whereby it is a new recycling store that aims to raise money for supporting the water project in Kenya. In the last 3 months the store was able to raise an amount of 450,000 krones which has been greatly beneficial. People working there as volunteers normally range from 10 to 15 with different activities depending on the day. The store opens from Thursday to Saturday from 12 noon to 5 pm. We work in the store on Thursdays and Fridays helping out in the kitchen, making waffles and coffee for the customers, cleaning and pricing different kinds of things such as kitchen utensils, clothes, kids stuff and taking them out in the store. LIFE AT HALD

 Hald Internasjonale Senter is a vocational school offering courses in cross-cultural understanding and international work. The school is owned by the Strømme Foundation, the Norwegian Missionary Society, and the Norwegian Christian Student and School Association, which each have their own exchange program. The academic program is a mix of theory and practice in which all of the students spend six months of student internship in another culture. The Norwegian students have their internship abroad, and the students from abroad have their internship in Norway. Those studying at Hald International Center are eligible for full loans and grants from the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund. The school is located in Mandal.
